Welcome to the Remote Sensing Working Group!

Issues in Applied Geographical Remote Sensing

are gaining rapidly growing importance in a wide range of subdisciplines of geography—from geomorphology and climatology to urban geography. The multitude of sensors, analytical techniques, and resulting possibilities now available is expanding the scope of remote sensing applications, while at the same time posing greater challenges for its effective use.

Consequently, the need for information exchange on issues related to applied geographic remote sensing across a wide range of subject areas in German-speaking countries is greater than ever. The Remote Sensing Working Group, which is part of the German Geographical Society (DGfG), aims to contribute to this effort.

Annual meetings featuring workshops, poster sessions, and presentations

serve as an informative forum for bringing together stakeholders in the field of applied remote sensing in German-speaking countries. A particular focus is on incorporating ongoing and completed doctoral theses and research projects, including student theses.
