Meeting of the Remote Sensing Working Group 2026

The Meeting of the Remote Sensing Working Group (Arbeitskreis Fernerkundung) of the German Society for Geography (DGfG) will take place on October 7–8, 2026, at the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, in Braunschweig.
This bilingual (German/English) event features engaging presentations on current research and development activities related to the topic:
“Earth Observation and Environmental Data for Society, Policy, and Sustainable Land Use“
The systematic use of Earth observation data and artificial intelligence, combined with additional sensor or measurement data, helps us better understand our planet, support sustainable decision-making, and strengthens resilience. The combination of satellite data, environmental and ecosystem data, models, and analyses yields new perspectives on ecosystems, resource use, climate and environmental changes, and their cause-and-effect relationships, going beyond mere status assessment and monitoring.
