Meeting of the Remote Sensing Working Group 2026

The Meeting of the Remote Sensing Working Group (Arbeitskreis Fernerkundung) of the German Society for Geography (DGfG) will take place on October 7–8, 2026, at the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, in Braunschweig.

The systematic use of Earth observation data and artificial intelligence, combined with additional sensor or measurement data, helps us better understand our planet, support sustainable decision-making, and strengthens resilience. The combination of satellite data, environmental and ecosystem data, models, and analyses yields new perspectives on ecosystems, resource use, climate and environmental changes, and their cause-and-effect relationships, going beyond mere status assessment and monitoring.

We thus invite you to present your current research and development activities under this year’s theme.

Once again this year, the call for participation is again especially directed at early-career researchers, offering them the opportunity to present their work at an early stage and discuss it with a broad audience.

We encourage presenters to deliver their talks in English to accommodate the growing interest from non-German-speaking participants. The meeting will be conducted in two languages (German and English).
